DAY 1: TIMBAVATI GAME RESERVE On arrival at OR Tambo, Johannesburg’s International airport, you will be welcomed by one of Finding Africa’s representatives. They will provide you with all the documents necessary for your journey and assist you with your connecting flight to East Gate Airport in the Limpopo Province. At East Gate you will be transferred by vehicle to your game lodge in the Timbavati Game Reserve. The Timbavati Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger Park. There are no fences between the Timbavati and the Kruger (over 5 million acres) which allows free movement of wildlife between the Reserves. The accommodation will offer you a unique bush experience staying in luxury tented camps, giving you the authentic feel of the African bush, without compromising on comfort. After a well deserved lunch and rest, you will be taken on safari in the late afternoon aboard a 4X4 open Jeep to search for animals with the help of your guide and tracker. You will then return to the lodge for a sumptuous dinner under the African sky (weather permitting). DAY 2: TIMBAVATI GAME RESERVE Awake early and enjoy refreshments before embarking on a morning Game Drive Safari. After the excitement of experiencing your second game viewing you will be welcomed back at the lodge where a hearty South African breakfast will be waiting for you. An optional guided Walking Safari is offered, allowing you to move through the bush, enjoying views and discovering the diversity of abundant fauna and flora unique to this area, which truly come alive when viewed on foot. Indulge in lunch at the lodge and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure or relax around the pool. Your Sundowner Safari - evening game drive - gives one the greatest chance to observe wild life in their natural environment, as they are at their most active at this time of day. An enthralling, romantic evening awaits you on your return to the lodge for dinner which is served around the Boma creating an opportunity to share your stories. DAY 3: SABI SAND GAME RESERVE Partake in the early morning Game Safari. Have a sumptuous breakfast, before collecting your luggage for your transfer to the lodge’s airstrip. The flight to Sabi Sands Game Reserve will provide you with breath taking views of the bushveld. The Sabi Sand Reserve is the oldest of all the private reserves in South Africa. Situated in Mpumalanga, the 65 000 hectare reserve forms part of the greater Kruger National Park, sharing a 50km unfenced eastern boundary, allowing animals to roam free. The area is nourished by the Sand and Sabie Rivers, ensuring it as one of the most bio-diverse wildlife populations in Africa. Over two hundred different species occur in abundance, including the Big Five (Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino), and a number of endangered species. After landing at your luxury game lodge, a lavish lunch will be provided. In the late afternoon, embark on a Safari drive in an open Land Rover with your tracker and guide as the sun gently goes down. This is when predators become more active and get ready for the hunt. Discover the secret world of the night under the guidance of your experienced guide with the assistance of powerful spot lights from the vehicle. Dinner will be served on your return to the lodge. DAY 4: SABI SAND GAME RESERVE The excitement of the early morning Safari will be followed by breakfast and a visit to the local community where you will learn about the social upliftment programme. The afternoon Sundowner Safari will provided the opportunity to star gaze and learn more about the southern star constellations from your guide. A Boma dinner under the stars will await you on your return to the lodge to create more memories. DAY 5: CAPE TOWN Before transferring to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport, near Nelspruit to catch your flight to Cape Town your guide will accompany you on your last game drive and endeavour to track down the animals that you may not yet have had the opportunity to observe. On arrival at Cape Town International airport, you will be welcomed by one of Finding Africa’s representatives, who will provide you with all the documents necessary to ensure that your time in the City meets all your expectations and will assist you with the rental of your car. This city is known as the “Mother City” of South Africa as it has the status of being the oldest city in the country. It is the result of an incredible mix of superb landscapes, historical buildings, and a mixture of cultures with a charming cosmopolitan ambiance. Check into your accommodation and enjoy dinner and the evening at leisure. DAY 6 - 7: CAPE TOWN Over the next few days, spend time visiting the Mother City's famous attractions such as Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, Castle of Good Hope, Bo-Kaap, the Company Garden, National South African Museum, Green Market Square, Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Two Oceans Aquarium, Cape Point, Simons Town and Robben Island. DAY 8: CAPE PENINSULA We suggest to you that you spend one of your days discovering the magnificent Cape peninsula, which is known as being one of the most beautiful scenic drives in the region with picturesque landscapes, historical coastal villages and beaches.
Commence your journey in Hout Bay’s harbour, where you can take a ferry to Duiker Island and visit its seal colony (weather permitting). Drive along Chapman’s Peak to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point, the southern most tip of the peninsula. Continue your drive to Boulders Beach, which is famous for its thriving colony of 3000 Jackass penguins. End the tour is not complete without a visit to Simon’s Town, founded in 1741 and now the principal South African Naval base. DAY 9: CAPE WINELANDS Another suggestion for a day visit is to spend the day in the Cape winelands to discover the rich countryside of the region. Start your tour with a visit to the town of Franschhoek, also known as the “French Corner”, gourmet capital of South Africa. Continue your journey to Stellenbosch, which is the second oldest town in South Africa. It is today renowned for its wines, historical buildings, oak lined streets and for hosting the famous University of Stellenbosch. We recommend that you visit some of the numerous wine estates along the way for wine tastings and perhaps some lunch.
