Swellendam is the third oldest settlement in South Africa and located along the N2, approximately 240 km halfway between Cape Town and George. Its known for its eclectic architecture, fascinating history and great outdoor life.

De Kloof Luxury Estate offers Five Star boutiqueaccommodation. The Cape Dutch homestead (1801) and national monumentis situated in a secluded valley on large beautiful grounds with excellent panoramic viewsover the Langeberg mountains and is in walking distance from the historical center of Swellendam. The orginal homestead is one of the oldest in the region, which has been perfectly renovated, with much of its original woodwork in place. The stylish and elegant interiormerges a modern classic European style with a chique selection of African & Asian art, fabrics andartefacts.

Accommodation

The homestead can accommodate 18 guests, offering six private gardens rooms, a double story honeymoon/family suite and “the Cottage”, which sleeps four guests. The rooms have luxuriouslarge ensuite-bathrooms with a bath and rain shower, DSTv, fully stocked inroom bar and private secluded patios with their own own entrances and panoramic views. The double storey Suiteoffers a fireplace, jacuzzi/spabath, a high stablized warm waterbed,large living and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. All rooms have air conditioning & heater.

De Kloof Luxury Estate also offers guests daily complimentary wine tastings, a library and cigar room/lounge in the Cape Dutch main housesurounded by several secluded gardens abundant with birdlife; a12 meter pooloasis & gym with breathtaking views over the moutains.Enjoy lunches, sunset/evening cheese & wine platters, snacks and tapaswhich are servedon the terraces in beautiful gardensor on your own private terrace or de-stress & relax with inroom aroma therapy massages. Complimentary use of ladies & gents mountain bikes are also available.

Activities

De Kloof Luxury estate offers a personalized golf experience including private coaching, golf clinics and rounds of golf at the picturesque Swellendam golf course. A nine hole country course in excellent condition and a challenge for all handicaps. The estate has its own driving range, putting green and the PGA professional will see to your every golfing needs. Clubs and balls are available for guests.

Activities in the region include: Wine tasting along Route 62; river rafting on the Breede river; a visit to Bontebok National Park, Grootvaders Bosch reserve and De Hoop Nature Reserve; Whale watching at Witsand; Sunset cruises; Historic National Monument walk around the town; pottery; galleries and restaurants.
